Team Chat & Get Help
The two in-app messaging channels — private team chat and the help line to facilitators — plus unread counts and moderation.
The app has two separate messaging channels: Team Chat (teammates only) and Get Help (the team's private line to event facilitators).
Team Chat
Opened from the "Team Chat" quick action on Home. The header shows "Team Chat", the team name, and a live connection dot reading "Connected" or "Reconnecting...".
- Your own messages appear right-aligned in the accent color; teammates' messages on the left; system messages as centered pills.
- Empty state: "No messages yet" — "Start the conversation with your team!"
- Opening the chat marks it as read; unread messages show as a count badge on the Home tab's "Team Chat" quick action.
Only members of your team can see team chat — it is private to the team (facilitators can also view it for moderation).
Get Help
The team's direct channel to event staff, reached from the "Get Help" quick action on Home or Settings → "Help & Support". The header reads "Get Help" — "Chat with a facilitator".
- Replies from staff carry a "Facilitator" badge so players know who's answering.
- Empty state: "Need help?" — "Ask a question and a facilitator will respond!"
- The input placeholder is "Ask for help...".
Deleting your own message
Long-press one of your own messages to delete it. A confirmation appears: "Delete Message" — "Are you sure you want to delete this message?" with Cancel and Delete.
That is the only self-serve moderation in the app — players cannot delete, report, mute, or block other people's messages or members. All other moderation is handled by facilitators, who can remove any message in the event from the admin side.
When chat is disabled
Organizers can turn either channel off per event (team chat and the help channel are independent toggles). When a channel is disabled its entry points disappear — the quick action on Home and, for help, the "Help & Support" item in Settings. The app checks the toggles every few seconds, so an organizer flipping them mid-event takes effect on phones almost immediately.
Connection status
Both chat headers show the live connection status. While the dot reads "Reconnecting...", incoming messages may lag briefly — the app reconnects automatically, including whenever it returns to the foreground.
