FAQ & Troubleshooting
Answers to common player and organizer questions — sessions, rejected photos, blocked submissions, hints, AI costs, and offline behavior.
Players
Yes. The app saves your session, so relaunching drops you straight back into the hunt. Even after leaving, rejoining with the same team code on the same device automatically reattaches you to your existing player (the app identifies you by a device ID) — your progress and points are kept server-side, and no duplicate member is created.
Until 24 hours after the event's end time (minimum 1 hour), so you can review results after the hunt. When the session expires, the app clears it and returns you to the Join screen — re-enter your team code to get back in while the event is still joinable.
You get 0 points for that submission, and your team sees the rejection reason the facilitator chose, with a prompt to resubmit. You can try again — and the organizer can approve a later submission or adjust points afterward.
A few possibilities, each with its own message:
- The event isn't live — "Event paused — submissions are disabled…", "This event has ended…", or "Event has not started yet…".
- Your team is under a freeze artifact effect, which blocks submissions while it's active.
- The challenge hasn't been activated yet (GPS, QR, iBeacon, or manual-start challenges must be started before you can submit).
- Your team already completed the challenge ("Challenge already completed").
- The challenge hit its maximum number of completing teams and is no longer available.
The organizer enabled Quiz Mode for this event — an indoor/no-map format where challenges are shown as a flat list instead.
The organizer has hidden it. You'll see padlocked placeholder rows saying "Will be released soon" — and the moment the organizer flips it back on, it unlocks live, no refresh needed.
No. Location is foreground-only — the app requests only when-in-use permission and reads your position while you're actively using it (for nearby challenges and proximity activation). There is no background location tracking.
No. There is no offline queue — submissions require a live connection, and a failed media upload shows "Upload failed — check your connection and try again". The realtime socket reconnects automatically when you bring the app to the foreground, and data refreshes on 15–30 second polls in the meantime, but nothing is saved for later while you're offline.
Organizers
Use Force activate. On a team's Challenges tab (or via facilitator tools), force activation bypasses any activation gate — dead beacon battery, damaged QR, no GPS lock — and unlocks the challenge for that team. The team still submits their answer normally afterward.
Partially. Once an event is active, its structure is locked — you can't add or remove challenges or groups, reorder them, or change unlock conditions (that requires Draft or Scheduled status). Content edits are still allowed: clue text, hints, points, media, and similar fields on existing challenges can be updated mid-event.
If you set a Hint Cost on the challenge. The cost is deducted from the challenge's award at solve time — the team still sees the hint immediately, but their eventual points for that challenge are reduced by the hint cost (never below zero). Set Hint Cost to 0 for free hints; the stored per-use hint cost defaults to 50 points in the data model.
You invited someone from outside @destinationtours.com to the internal
Destination Tours organization. External invitees to that org are always
pinned to the Hunts Admin role (hunts access only, no org-membership
management), regardless of the role selected in the dialog. See
Roles & Access.
There is no report or block system in the platform today. The available moderation tools are: facilitators can delete any chat message in their org's events, players can delete their own messages, and admins can remove members from a team via team member management.
No. AI usage is tracked and priced per call, but never capped — there is no budget-limit setting. The spend levers are the AI Photo Verdicts toggle (off means "no AI spend") and the event's facilitator mode. If you want to stop spend mid-event, flip the toggle off in Live settings.
